Well, not a bad start – within the first minute, we’ve all seen three Doctors! (courtesy of the clip from the 50th Anniversary Special). It set the scene nicely for the first of this two-parter (called The Zygon Invasion, whilst next week’s is entitled The Zygon Inversion). Ooo the word-play!
It was a brave script, in that it paralleled the scenario of other races living amongst us. This co-habitation goes horribly wrong when a more radical splinter group tries to seize control.
All-in-all, it was a good episode, and the fans will be delighted to see the return of familiar characters from the 5Oth Anniversary show. However, despite its contemporary setting, topical theme and well-loved characters in a creepy scenario, it didn’t quite do it for me - but maybe it’ll all come together next week?
