Holiday in Oman - Day 5

We left the gorgeous 'Al Waha' hotel today. We certainly won't forget it - it's been a superb stay - probably one-of-the-best hotels or even the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Service, food, facilities have all been first-class!

The Golden Tulip - MuscatWe're now heading for the Golden Tulip Hotel near the Airport in Muscat.

12.30pm. The taxi arrived and after an hour or so, we arrived at the Golden Tulip. it looked great from the outside, but once we got to our room (207), it was obvious it was an older hotel that had had some money thrown at it - but only in the visible areas downstairs. The room looked very crappy and dull - a sort of Travel-Lodge from the 1970s!!!

After a quick wander round, we found the Pool and then headed to the Restaurant for lunch. I think we were spoiled at our previous Hotel. There was only two choices for lunch here. Ann chose the fish and I chose the beef-medallions. Visually, the food looked very disappointing, but it tasted good and filled a gap (even if the mashed potato tasted like Smash!!)

2.45pm. Back to our room to have a closer look. Oh dear, the towels look very tatty and the TV looks about 20 years old. The general furniture is covered in dents; there was a distinct lack of power-points and the toilet seat is the 'wobbly' variety. Even the hair-dryer needs to have the 'on' button held all the time it's being used. Ann now has RSI! Internet access isn't free here either - bugger! On a rare positive note, the room does have a nice new blue carpet. It's all a bit lack-lustre, disappointing, crap - Yuk!!!!

3.00pm Off to do our last bit of 'lizarding' of the holiday by the pool.

5.00pm. Time to watch a bit of TV and then crash-out. We'll be up early-ish tomorrow in order to catch the shuttle-bus at 9.00am, after a spot of breakfast.

This is the final blog of the holiday - we should be home by around 7.30pm UK time. Apparently, the forecast back in the UK is snow!
