Ask – The Family

A bit of a travel experiment today! We travelled down to my Brother’s by train. We left just before 8.45 and after a short drive to Bedford (dropping-in on Steve and Denise), then grabbing the train at Bedford, and finally, changing at Farringdon. Three hours later, we were at Bromley South – a tad quicker than by car and a much less stressful journey!

After meeting Neil, Debbie, Alfie and Frankie, outside the Station, it was then a short (and nostalgic for me!) walk up the High Street to our destination: Ask Italian.

It was a great meal and a superb opportunity to catch-up with the family’s news – more especially, Alfie’s University Graduation and Frankie’s AS Level results.

Then it was back to the Station for the return journey. We said our goodbyes and caught the 2.30 back to St Pancras – arriving with 15 minutes to spare to catch the 3.30 to Bedford. As a result, we were back at Bedford Station by 4.15 and home by 5. The return journey had therefore been much quicker! – and we felt pretty satisfied that we’d had a great journey there, and an even better journey home –  especially when we learned that there had been a major incident near the Dartford Tunnel bring the traffic to a long-term halt!!

I think this will become our preferred travel method when visiting my brother in the future! Result!
