After the thoroughly depressing 12 years a Slave, from a month or so ago, we felt that our next visit to the cinema ought to be something a ‘little lighter’! So, we picked up Jo and Janet and headed for local Odeon to see Cuban Fury.
Starring Nick Frost and (a rather wrinkled) Ian McShane, the film also starred Rashida Jones and Chris O'Dowd. The story was based around the world of salsa dancing and although it wasn’t quite as funny as I expected, it did raise more than a few smiles on our faces. The audience too, seemed to agree, resulting in lots of ‘laugh-out-loud’ moments throughout. If you’ve not seen it, don’t read the Telegraph’s review first - it’s a bit harsh!!
Afterwards, we drifted into Frankie and Benny’s across the road. The place was heaving, but we were soon offered a table. The food was better than expected - and if you like your background music with the volume pumped to ‘11’, this was the place to be seen (and quietly go deaf!)
A great day - and good to catch up with J and J!
