Trip to Lyveden New Bield

On the spur of the moment (unusual for us!), we decided to risk the iffy weather and take the short drive, about 25 minutes away, to the NT property - Lyveden New Bield (a bit of a mouthful!).  Apparently, we went there around 10 years ago – but I don’t remember it at all!

The NT have done a great job in cleaning it all up, but the journey up the narrow road to the car park, was ‘interesting’ – full of pot-holes and lumps and bumps – so I’m glad we didn’t take the Insignia with its ultra-low profile tyres.

As soon as we got out of the car, it started raining, but despite the weather, the place was already quite busy. It was an interesting building to look at from all angles, and it also had the unique feature of being surrounded by... nothing at all, apart from  zillions of acres of Northamptonshire countryside – lovely!
