After breakfast, we drove to 'St Hilaire'. There is an Abbey there which is worth a look. It was an impressive place and well preserved.
Although it's now 24 degrees, there's some rain in the air, but it's only a few spots.
Next stop, and after 20 minute drive full of twisty roads, we arrived at 'Limoux' and our first coffee-stop in the town-square.
'Alet-les-Baines' next. Very 'sleepy-hollow', almost deserted! There was a ruined Abbey and that was about it!
Onto 'Mirepoix' - a thirty-minute drive on some very twisty D roads. Worth the drive though - a LOVELY town-square and a FANTASTIC lunch. Ann had profiteroles stuffed with goat's cheese, whilst I settled for the foie gras. Mains - Ann had pork whilst I opted for the casserole. A good decision for both of us! Lovely grub!!
...oh, then we had cheese...with jam. Strangely delicious. Phew, we're stuffed!!
2.30 ..and then it started to rain. Fortunately, we were under cover in the Square, so it didn't stop us looking around and picking up some cake for tea. We then headed for the car.
Ann drove back in the rain and by 5 o'clock, we were back at the hotel. We sorted out Ralph and Karen's accommodation for next week and spent the rest of the evening reading and watching crappy French TV.
We skipped the evening meal in the restaurant because we were too full.
